Young Gifted Brum
A continuous programme of FREE weekly creative workshops for children and young people from 8-18 years of age. The workshops have an emphasis on developing practical skills and having fun. Activities will culminate in a sharing event and will also tie into the achievement of an Arts Award for children and young people’s involvement in the programme.
Creative sessions include:

Breakdance
1 - 2.00pm: (Beginners)
2.00 - 3pm: (Advanced)
Drama
1 - 2.30pm: (13-18s)
3 - 4.30pm: (8-12s)
With support from the Heritage Lottery Fund we are launching ‘Journey of the Drum’ a new project for young people aged 13-19 who are invited to take part in a musical journey from historical West Africa to the inner cities of contemporary UK. Participants will work with master drummers, DJ’s, oral historians and archivists to explore the significance of African beats in Hip Hop, Drum ‘n’ Bass, Grime and Dubstep. Workshops will run between may and December and culminate in an exhibition and performances.
Please note all children have to register before they can attend a workshop. Arts Awards @ The Drum
Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification which supports young people aged 11 to 25 to develop as artists and arts professionals. The award is run by Trinity College London, supported by Arts Council England.
Through Arts Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels (levels 1, 2 and 3 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework), young people aged 11-25 can explore any of the art forms including performing arts, visual arts, literature and multimedia. The award builds confidence, helps young people to enjoy cultural activities, and prepares them for further education or employment.
