4WardEver UK & The Drum presents:

The Stuart Hall Project

Tickets : £3.00 to £4.00

4WardEver UK - A Community Collective, Supporting Campaigns for Justice
4WardEver UK in collaboration with The Drum presents a monthly film, showcasing independent films to a wider audience. Films are an important vehicle to raise crucial civil society concerns, initiate conversations and dialogue and evolve public discourse around them.

A founding figure of contemporary cultural studies - and one of the most inspiring voices of the post-war Left - Stuart Hall's resounding and ongoing influence on British intellectual life commenced soon after he emigrated from Jamaica in 1951.

The film tells the story of his life and influence, through the extensive archival imagery and a personal Miles Davis soundtrack matching the agility of Hall's intellect. It's an intimate play with memory, identity and scholarly impulse traversing the changing historical landscape of the second half of the 20th century.

A panel discussion featuring Marlene Smith, Skinder Hundal and Melanie Kidd of Nottingham's New Art Exchange.

Running time: 103 minutes
Director: John Akomfrah (Smoking Dog Films)
Doors: 7:00pm
