Upfront Café Comedy 2009
To kick-start the new season of the hilarious Upfront Café comedy, The Drum is proud to present a side-splitting night of comedy with the first of two self contained shows, Quincy- Single Mom, Fri 6 Feb, doors open 7pm.
Direct from a successful run at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival; East London heavyweight Quincy (Paramount Channel’s ‘Comedy Blue’) performs the funny, sad and touching autobiographical show, telling of the many ups and downs of that rarely publicised thing, the single black father (who just happens to be comedian).
This night is set to be one that can touch the hearts of many, and allow us all to relate to controversial issues in a funny and thought-provoking way. Tickets are £9 (£7), £11 on the door.
Also featuring on the Upfront bill this season is our second self contained show featuring slick musical double act Jefferson and Whitfield (BBC 2’s ‘The Real McCoy’). After ripping up the Upfront Café stage last year, they back by popular demand, Fri 6 Mar sees the duo with their full show In Your Face, doors open 7pm, tickets £9 (£7), £11 on the door.
There will also be performances from Brixton’s number one bus driver SLIM, alongside West London’s sarcastic Glenda Jacxson, plus host John Simmit and special guests in Upfront Comedy Presents Comedy Spring Series, Fri 3 April, doors open 7pm, tickets £12 (£10), £15 on the door.
