All That Jazz presents:

THE BLACKBYRDS

The legendary Blackbyrds are performing live at The Drum for the very first time on Sat 17 May, . Born as Donald Byrd’s supergroup in the seventies – this jazz-funk, R’n’B collective went on to become one of the decades most loved groups. A super-cool collective of musicians: they dropped some true anthems including Rock Creek Park, Walking in Rhythm and Happy Music sampled by many a Hip Hop producer bringing their classic tracks to a whole new audience. Rock Creek Park was sampled by many artists including Ice-Cube and Big Daddy Kane in 1991 and also N.W.A and Ultramagnetic M.C’s in 1988.

Join us for what is bound to be a pleasant trip down memory lane. This is a must-see gig for all you ‘back-in-the-day’ formation crews out there and, if you’re too young to remember those good times, then come along and find out what you’ve been missing! The original line-up are Pericles “Perk” Jacobs Jr (percussionist), Keith Killgo (drummer), Kevin Toney( keyboardist), Allan Barnes (reeds player), Joe Hall (bassist) and Barney Perry.

Tickets are £14, £12 in advance and £17 on the door, book early as this will be a sell-out! Call box-office on 0121 333 2444 or book online at www.the-drum.org.uk. Age Restriction 18+
