Cross Cultural Masters SHIVANOVA brings classical and cotemporary Indian Music to The Drum - Birmingham

ShivaNova will be performing at The Drum on Friday 20th November 7pm for an evening of classical and contemporary Indian music based on their latest triumphant album Secret Chants released in spring 09. Prepare to be captivated by frantic vocal climaxes, intricate Indian drumming and beautiful lilting melodies.

ShivaNova is a cutting-edge world music group with an ensemble of musicians from around the world. Led by composer Priti Paintal the group blend urban, folk, classical, jazz, Asian and ambient music with influences from Indian, African and Western styles to create an exciting sound-world that celebrates cultural diversity through music.

Experience the distinctive style, brilliant improvisations and overwhelming rhythms of the cross cultural masters as they set the flair for Indian and Western musicians against chanting from Tibetan monks and stunning visuals of Himalayan landscapes, Indian temples and folk dances.

“An epic, cinematic soundscape that brings Asian musical traditions together with jazz and classical music” (Songlines)

Joining ShivaNova will be the Girls Only Global Orchestra with members from Smallheath, Swanshurst and Handsworth Wood Schools.
