PRESS RELEASE

The Drum in partnership with Love Music Hate Racism presents

Mad Professor

As part of BirminStrong season Mad Professor takes to The Drum stage on his LIVE Dub Big Band Tour. A powerful figure within Britain’s Rock Against Racism movement, original productions and remix work have ensured Mad Professor’s place as a leading producer in the dub scene. A powerful figure within Britain’s Rock Against Racism movement, Mad Professor has been instrumental in transitioning dub in the digital age.

Mad Professor has collaborated with reggae artist such as Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Sly and Robbie, and Horace Andy. Artists outside the realm of traditional reggae and dub have also benefited from the Mad Professor’s touch, these include Sade, Massive Attack and The Orb.

In tonight’s performance the sonic dub genius creates cutting-edge reggae as he journeys into on stage manipulation of samplers, mixers and effects processors that create a dense, shifting collage of sounds and rhythms.

Joining him are his live band the Ariwa Posse featuring Errol Nichlson (bass), Paul Emmanuel Joseph (guitar), Steven Smith (kit drum), Henry David Holder (keyboard); Cush (conga) and Patrick Augustus (steel drum).

In addition, expect surprise guests DJ’s and artists from the Ariwa stable pool of artists, including the likes of Aisha, Sister Audrey, Macka B, Chukki Starr and Karl Melody. So come one, come all – all nations and tribes unite to fight the good fight!
