Custom Practice in association with The Drum presents

MACBETH

Soldier, Husband, Killer, King: How far would you go for power

28 – 29th March 2011

Custom/Practice was established in November 2009 by young directors Suba Das (the youngest ever recipient of the prestigious National Theatre Cohen Bursary to develop promising talent) and Rae McKen (a winner of the coveted Channel 4 Regional Theatre Director Award). Rae and Suba met at Theatre Royal Stratford East, directing new and classic plays aimed at the diverse local community and young audiences.

This extraordinary production, made with support from the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Continuing Artist Development Programme and English Touring Theatre, is the result of a unique, year-long project bringing together actors from a range of backgrounds and disciplines to create arresting classical theatre. Told by just six versatile performers, this is a physically charged and furiously-paced production aimed at both new audiences and those already familiar with Shakespeare’s great, bloody tragedy.

Macbeth is the debut show of theatre company Custom/Practice, which was established in 2009 to offer training opportunities to emerging actors to develop their craft under the guidance of some of the country’s leading practitioners, and to challenge conventions behind current classical theatre practice. Arts Council England has supported each strand of the company’s work and Macbeth tours to London boroughs that are committed to expanding the provision of high-quality classical performance to local communities, and to Birmingham’s centre for diverse British arts, The Drum.

Macbeth is directed by Suba Das and Rae Mcken. The cast, selected from over 2200 applicants, includes Custom/Practice former training participant Henry Maynard (Macduff) in his first professional leading classical role.
So join The Drum for this exclusive screening, it is not to be missed.
