“It is very touching that so many have been drawn to us. Some people have said it is food for the soul. I definitely feel that the energy of the live instruments and the lyrics have affected their spirit.” Navasha Daya

Navasha Daya, a native of Cleveland (USA), is known as the ‘Astral Soul Goddess’ in the group. Most people know Navasha as the lead singer of Fertile Ground. She’s also a musician, songwriter, and vocal coach. But there is a whole other side to her that exists that the Fertile Ground fan may not know. She’s a certified Reiki master teacher and practices various healing exercises and holistic living workshops, is an ordained interfaith minister, and has been a student and practitioner of African, Native American, and Vedic spirituality for many years. After-all she’s not nicknamed ‘The Spirit’ for nothing!

“A varied album that offers all kinds of rewards.” Blues & Soul (BLACK IS’ album review)

Fertile Ground’s founding leader and keyboardist, James Collins, started Blackout Studios to help get the band’s music to listeners the best way possible and quickly recognizes that original world music can be transmitted through the effective use of the underground.

“This LP goes to prove they are as on point as ever, both spiritually, lyrically and musically.” DJ Mag (BLACK IS’ album review)
