Celebrating the welcome return to The Drum of one of the world’s most legendary saxophonists – Courtney Pine. His shows are a must-see, bringing together jazz, reggae, hip hop and drum and bass influences in a totally exclusive way. This 2007 UK tour coincides with the re-release of his classic Modern Day Jazz Stories album so expect to hear old favourites alongside first airings of new album material.

On the live circuit, Courtney is the ultimate road warrior with 20 years touring behind him. He has played across the world from the main stage at Glastonbury to the intimate Blue Note Tokyo, Japan and continues to tour internationally with his award-winning band.

In recognition of his career to date and his contribution to the black community and jazz music, Courtney was awarded an O.B.E in the 2000 New Year’s Honours. He has also been honoured with a Gold Badge Award from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters and a Fellowship to The Leeds College of Music. In December 2005 he was also made an honorary doctor of music by the University of Westminster in London.

His performance at The Drum will be an opportunity to hear tracks from the new album Resistance and classics from his astounding back-catalogue. Early booking is strongly recommended for this chance to get up and feel the vibe with Courtney Pine.

Why not combine your visit with a pre-concert Valentine’s meal in our Frontiers Café bar? Delicious sexy food to tantalise your senses, complete with a live pianist. The Drum has all the right ingredients to make you’re Valentine’s truly special and memorable.
