Upfront Café Summer Season 2010
To kick-start the new season of the hilarious Upfront Café comedy nights, The Drum is proud to present Comedy’s Bad Boys (Fri 7 May). Ishmael Thomas was half the pioneering comedy double act Curtis & Ishmael (with Curtis Walker). He starred in BBC TV’s groundbreaking sketch show The Real McCoy and hosted BBC primetime Saturday show Paramount City. He’s back and blazing after a self imposed comedy circuit break to deal with his demons! Joining him is Malawi’s top Canadian comedian Daliso Chaponda. Glazz Campbell and Special P. Hosted by comedian turned Teletubbie John Simmit.
Also featuring on the Upfront bill this season is Gina Yashere (Fri 4 Jun), after making her debut in Edinburgh 2005, Gina has continued to take the comedy world by storm and is now one of the most highly sought after comics. Her bombastic delivery, infectious personality and cheeky observations wow audiences worldwide. Gina is back in the UK for just a few days, making her only Midlands appearance at the Upfront Café. Joining her on this red-hot bill is New York hotshot Sinck, with host John Simmit.
The final Upfront performance on Fri 2 Jul, is a comedy recession special with Jefferson & Whitfield, John Simmit and Teddy Bear. Giving us tips on how to survive the credit crunch, from re-using tea bags and cutting the bottom off your toothpaste, to the best recession chat-up lines and much more!
