October – it’s the time of the year when, we at The Drum Arts Centre are firing up to rejoice the event of events Black History Month - A month of plentiful events providing an insight of history and heritage of the British African, Asian and Caribbean communities
We always
feel privileged and committed in celebrating BHM every year to promote
contemporary art and culture of these communities. Every year we
schedule to celebrate diverse range of arts, music, theatre, comedy,
spoken words and exhibitions keeping the Black history alive in the UK.
Like other years, this year is no exception, we are proud to have a jam
packed month of events.
The Drum in partnership with Birmingham City
council is organising its official BHM launch with the theme “Africa
Calling!” as a gesture of solidarity to mark the United Nations
International Year for people of Africa decent. While it’s a time for
celebration, it’s also an opportunity to learn about the struggles,
contributions and commitments of Black communities to keep their culture
and heritage alive.
The Drum is starting off the Black History Month with the diverse range of theatre performances commencing from 14th- 15th Oct.
The
Drum in partnership with Birmingham City Council is producing a
brochure and website for Black History Month 2011. The brochure will
list events taking place in Birmingham during October and we would
appreciate if you could assist us by providing details of all events and
activities you have planned to celebrate this year’s Black History
Month.
