Allah Made Me Funny

Following its sell-out show in Birmingham last year the internationally acclaimed comedy tour Allah Made Me Funny is back with its progressive comedy that brings Muslim culture into the mainstream. Fusing humour and religion to address post 9/11 misconceptions about Muslims, the show features two of America’s top Muslim comics – Azhar Usman and Preacher Moss.

NOTHING VEILED IN THIS HUMOUR.

Julian Hall, THE INDEPENDENT

Inviting people to think outside of their fixed cultural perceptions together the comedy duo poke fun at Muslims and non-Muslims alike and through laughter aim to break all barriers no matter what peoples’ beliefs or backgrounds are!

A stand-up comedian, lecturer and a community activist, Azhar Usman has performed comedy routines in many major cities around America, as well as in the UK. Whether the audience is Muslim or not, young or old, serious or laid back, ‘The Ayotollah of Comedy’ (as he’s commonly known!) is sure to please.

“Muslims are not traditionally associated with humor which is part of the reason the tour is garnering so much attention,” said Usman. “It is a new concept but we are taking the Muslim culture into mainstream…because we want to effect change, and most of all we want to demonstrate that laughter is universal.”

The tour’s producer and featured comic Preacher Moss is a new prototype for a comedian of these times, and the foreseeable future. As a writer for Damon Wayans, and Saturday Night Live, his comedy style is distinguished for being scripted out of the everyday relevance of life, and the rare glimpses of truth we value as reality.

“Through humour we are able to play with stereotypes and demonstrate that laughter is universal.”

This is a great opportunity to see smash hit comedy at its best, entertaining audiences of all ethnic backgrounds; Allah Made Me Funny is in a league of its own!
