The Nine Muses
Join us for the Midland’s premiere of The Nine Muses, a stylised retelling of the history of mass migration to post-war Britain through the suggestive lens of Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey. Directed by John Akomfrah, a prolific film-maker who made his debut with the 1986 film ‘Handsworth Songs’, the film deals with the Black British experience of identity, journeys, migration, memory and the power of elegy.
Film followed by a Q&A.
Dir. John Akomfrah, 2011, (100 min)
