Lunch Group by Habda Rashid

The Lunch Group project focuses on a group of elderly residents living in Hackney and Islington who meet every Saturday to have lunch at the Factory Community Centre in North London. The group is made up of retired members of the community. The portraits are intended to reflect a group of people from very diverse backgrounds drawn together through one commonality the British Commonwealth. The aim is to also draw attention to how quickly time passes and how our lives adapt to our ever-changing circumstances. Using individual oral histories to inform my choice of technique, composition and style. I chose to portray my artistic ideas in portrait, as a contemplation of the ever-changing multicultural society that we inhabit today.
