This exhibition brings together two Birmingham based artists whose work is concerned with the modernity of a multi cultural Britain. Dee Patel presents a set of deeply human photographs taken in Handsworth. Anna Fields draws inspiration from media events and ordinary people, painting with a bold injection of explosive colour and mixed media.

Multi cultural Britain is the theme central to Anna Field's work. "I draw on past histories and give them a modern day twist. Paint and mixed media act as my voice. They enable me to diplomatically speak about current political issues that affect us all. My work features groups of people who don’t historically appear in the foreground of a painting. I want my work to be accessible to all, so actively seek unconventional exhibition spaces to showcase my work".

Dee is Birmingham based photographer whose primary skills lie in social, documentary and landscape photography. For his Creative Leap Project, he will be creating 'Land of Hope and Glory' a series of images of 'immigrants' who were either born in a different country or who are first generation children of 'immigrants' and who have now settled in the Handsworth area. The aim of the project is to highlight through images and text how these families have settled and contributed to this diverse and commercially vibrant area of Birmingham.
