Come What May
The 70s and 80s are seen as a major period in the histories of the second generation Asians in Britain. The Asian Youth Movements were at the forefront in the struggle for social justice. Come What May is an exhibition curated by Tandana which brings together extensive archive material to come out of this period.Tandana seeks to preserve it for future generations to learn about the experiences of young South Asians growing up in towns and cities 20 years ago.
To accompany the exhibition the South Asian Alliance will host a panel debate with former members of Asian Youth Movements from Southall, Birmingham, Bradford, Manchester and Newham. The discussion will focus on historical context that gave rise to they AYMs and their relevance to third generation Asians today. The exhibition and debate will be followed by a cultural evening with performances by musicians from this period.
