Panto season is rapidly approaching and The Drum is delighted to present the Cinderella story with a Jamaican twist. This traditional tale is overlaid with a clever new plot, playing on Jamaican and African-Caribbean culture, but always referring back to the original classic.

It is infused with authentic Jamaican comedy, contemporary references, a gender swap and an alcohol problem for the fairy godmother. Cindy even gets down to a bit of reggae and a smattering of hip hop. Yet in many ways, Cindy Relisha & The DJ Prince hardly strays from the traditional, with slapstick, bawdy visual jokes and a generous helping of old fashioned romance.
