Carnival Fire - A Rehearsed Reading
1985, Handsworth, Birmingham provides the backdrop for the story of three generations of Black men. Set during a time when communities were experiencing great upheaval, an upheavel sparked off by what some call the riots.
Carnival Fire is Frank Moore's story. Frank migrated from the Caribbean in the late 50s; his son Trevor was born in Birmingham in the 60s and his son Andrew Carr born in London 1985.
Trevor and Andrew meet in a British prison. What was once closely guarded secrets are forced out in the open. Opinions about what happened in 1985 are explored through these three Black men who confront each other, around issues of fatherhood, identity and responsibility.
