Blacks Britannica (PG)
Dir: Colin Prescod (1978) 52 mins
Blacks Britannica outraged the establishment on both sides of the Atlantic and is one of the most suppressed films ever made in this country. As soon as it was completed, it was put under legal injunction so that it could only be screened guerrilla style in community and activist centres.
Described as being "bold , thoughtful and penetrating"; "the first film ever made on institutionalised racism", Blacks Britannica is a document on how things were on the eve of Thatcherism.
