Twin sisters Ferhana and Aishah have very different outlooks on life, and when it comes to making choices in love, they couldn’t be more opposed. As they embark on their newly married lives the consequences of their choices collide, testing their beliefs and bonds with Islam, their family and each other. This compelling, rich and dark piece of new writing by Azma Dar exposes the fault lines of conflict and unity that lie below the women in one family.

An all female cast of seven including Houria Niata, a vocalist specialising in 9th Century Arabic music bring this original new piece of writing to the stage; blending physical theatre, video projections and live music for a truly captivating, instructive and humorous journey.

An Ode To My Sisters is based on real life testimonies which explore and celebrate the courage, strength and spirit of Muslim women

Concept and directed by Yasmin Gurreeboo and Lucy Bradley
Written by Azmar Dar
